Emitwise AI, an automated carbon tracking and accounting software company with links to the University of Southampton's Future Worlds startup ecosystem, has secured $3.4 million in seed investment. The round was led by Silicon Valley venture capital firm True Ventures and included backing from Saltwater Capital, the investment fund established by former Uber chief executive Ryan Graves.

The financing marks an important step for a company seeking to improve the way large organizations understand their environmental impact. Emitwise AI uses real-time data and machine learning to accelerate carbon measurement and reporting. Its software is intended to replace fragmented manual processes with a platform that can organize information from across a business and its suppliers.

Companies are increasingly announcing carbon-reduction and net-zero targets, but achieving those commitments requires more than an annual footprint estimate. Decision-makers need to know which activities create the most emissions and which interventions are likely to deliver meaningful reductions. Emitwise's platform is designed to provide that visibility, helping businesses identify carbon hotspots, assess options, and monitor whether reduction plans are working.

The company's connection with Future Worlds began through co-founder Robert Cross's earlier entrepreneurial work. Cross attended Future Worlds events, co-founded an earlier startup known first as Fusemind and later as Researchably, and participated in the organization's Dragons' Den pitching program. The team subsequently joined the Berkeley SkyDeck accelerator in Silicon Valley before Cross went on to co-found Emitwise. Future Worlds described the investment as another milestone in that entrepreneurial journey.

Emitwise AI is targeting a growing corporate market. Pressure to improve emissions disclosure is coming from regulators, shareholders, customers, and supply-chain partners. At the same time, businesses need tools that can translate environmental information into operational decisions. By combining carbon-accounting expertise with automated data handling, the startup aims to make emissions management faster, more consistent, and more useful to executives and sustainability teams.

The new capital will support further product development, team growth, and commercial expansion. Emitwise's broader mission is to equip companies with the information required to reduce emissions throughout their operations and value chains, helping accelerate the transition to a net-zero economy.
